Course Overview

The LLM Law course is designed for students who have already completed an undergraduate law degree and wish to prepare for the SQE1 requirements. The course focuses on subjects not covered in traditional LLB courses, including Property Practice and Procedure, Law of Succession, Criminal Practice and Evidence, Business Law and Solicitors' Accounts, and Dispute Resolution. The course prepares students for the new SQE1 exam format and includes a major project in a legal subject of their choice.

Standard Entry Requirements

Applicants must have the equivalent of a UK first degree at 2:2 or above plus relevant experience.

Applicants should have been taught in English and have sufficient command of English to undertake postgraduate study, or have an IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.5 or better.

If you did not achieve the required grades but can demonstrate suitable life/work skills, you are still encouraged to apply.

EU nationals who meet residency requirements (have settled or pre-settled status) may be eligible for 'Home' fee status. If you do not meet these residency requirements, overseas fees will apply. For 2024-2025 entry, the maximum government-approved postgraduate tuition fee for UK students is £8,500 per year. The University is able to charge this fee subject to an approved Access and Participation Plan for 2024-2025 and its current rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
